Looking to help teams continuously improve?
If you have the opportunity to bring other teams together into one collaborative Retrospective this Retrospective template is a great opportunity for teams to share successes and failures. This Retrospective helps bring teas together and find ways to help each other, by listening to each others challenges the other team can share ideas of things they could try.
Running the Retrospective:
Start the Retrospective with explaining the purpose of why you’re bringing the two teams together and how they can support each other.
Then get started with a fantastic icebreaker. Split the teams into 2 mixed groups and set them a challenge to identify all the things the team are getting right. When bringing the team back together get them to share their ideas and reflect on what each team think is going well.
Repeat this exercise but this time ask the team to identify their challenges and what is making them unsuccessful. Ask team members to provide an example of a challenge, this will help other team members understand what they’re facing which will help with identifying solutions.
Bring the teams back together to share challenges they identified.
Finally mix the teams up and ask them to consider some of the challenges and identify one solution the team might benefit from trying.
Duration: 2 hours
Each break out segement allow 15 minutes for the team to converse and 15 minutes for rejoined group discussion.
Conclusion:
The collaboration of different teams helps the team share challenges, which can aid teams that feel overwhelmed or feeling “it’s just them” if common themes of challenges are identified. It can help foster a community across the teams and idea sharing of things to try can help when a team can’t see the wood for the trees!
